In SCAL Modeling, I am primarily interested in reducing analytically (without experiments), the uncertainty associated with Corey exponent selection. I am aware of certain proprietary spreadsheet kept by IOCs for resolving this. They were prepared based on extensive experiments on core samples. I hope to recreate something similar but different that offers a window of selection and gives sensitivity results of the choice of Corey exponents in the absence of core analysis results. In my brief working spell, I have found the process of Corey exponent selection and saturation height modelling to be riddled with great uncertainties and somewhat uninformed guesses.
In Reservoir Simulation, I am keenly interested in furthering a wave approach to pressure transient analysis and flow simulation. This was the topic of my undergraduate and MSc research. Part of what I am interested in is developing a technique for the use of spectral analysis in the analysis of well test results to delineate “INDIVIDUAL” pressure transients arriving at a well and their resulting impacts on flow. In line with this, I developed a PDE that describes such flow. I would love to build a simulator out of this theory, test run and visualize the advantages of looking at our data from a frequency domain as opposed to the traditional time domain. This also forms part of my interest in Pressure Transient Analysis.
In EOR, I have always had the idea of modifying the existing Bright water technology to achieve what I call “STEERABLE WATERFLOODING”, a kind of waterflood in which the flood direction per time is somewhat controlled by alternating fluid viscosity effected by changes in temperature, microbial community or some inherent reservoir properties. I have also thought of the possibility of a developing a “STEAM WATER FRACK” to assist the Canadian sands frac, instead of mine oil sands with a steam-surfactant blend. I believe it would greatly alleviate production costs if properly designed. It could also be used specifically for Heavy oil shale reservoirs.
I am confident of my abilities to deliver upon any (or all) of these research under an experienced and learned guide like you, while offering teaching or research assistantship as may be required if given the opportunity to.

I’ve learned in my psychology classes that the best way to encourage people to change their behavior is to show viewers a fear message immediately followed by solutions to end that behavior, and it seems like the PSA successfully did that with their mixed-emotion “Dear 16-year old Me” YouTube campaign (which now has over 10 million views by the way).
I watched the video interview of you on your faculty page, and I appreciate that you study the pro-social and positive side to media effects. I’m a Hallmark and Disney person myself, and I love the thought of working in a lab that perceives life through a “kind-world syndrome” lens.
